Gone are days- my happy sunny days,
That glowed in joyous rainbow rays.
Though I saved in golden cage,
Alas! They gone lost in vast space.
They betrayed all tie-
Of pleasure and long sigh-
Not stayed in my golden cage.
Gone forever my happy sunny days.
I hoped that one-day they would be taught
The soulful music of my thought
But they flew off out in breeze
Did not answer all queries
In my dream I see them often
Near the cage that lies broken-
Chasing a smell of long lost age.
My vibrant dazzling bygone days!
The pain so intense, can it be lie?
Are they shadow birds in a false sky?
Up in that space nothing there?
My days of many shades gone forever?

We all long for bygone days, don't we? Whether it is Tagore or you or me, the sweetest days are those gone by. But it is still a riddle whether the past must be greater than the present of the future must be the best, because no matter how good the present the longing for bygone days does not fade.
Great poem. Keep giving us more.
