Women Women! Wake to the fame,
A day is assigned in thy name--
Gone are days, when you were a game,
To be born as women, is not shame.
They sell you for a bit monetary gain,
Rape and torture quite often,
Eve-tease, makes fun, impart pain,
Has gifted you one golden chain.
Those who blamed you as earth’s primal sin,
Those who killed the son of first virgin,
Those who killed you each day pelting stone,
“You are a human” now they own.
Women Women! Wake to the fame,
A day is assigned in thy name--
Gone are days, when you were a game,
To be born as women, is not shame.

Actually it all began with the ridicule of Godman
- who punished Eve
for plucking and tasting the forbidden fruit and giving it to Adam!

Thanks a lot for reading and posting that valuable information.
But without reading any text I can say women in Ancient India were more liberated than their western counterparts.

When I read David Bodonis’s book “The Greatest Scientific Affair- The Passionate Minds” I was astonished to note that the women were not allowed to read inFrance during mid 19th century. I am digging for a book that tells the status of women in India during that period.
